Those glasses are a joke

Sunglasses are worn to protect your eyes from the sun and harmful UV rays, but if there’s a party and the theme is fancy dress, a great way to get a laugh from people is to wear joke glasses. These funny glasses can range from different styles, models and makes.

Groucho Marks Joke glasses
We've all worn the Groucho Marx style glasses and pretended to walk around in the funny manner such as the great man, with a cigar in our hand. Or we've worn the glasses that look like a pair of open eyes when we've all wanted to fall asleep at work.

Use them at work, will the boss notice?
Even Elton John had a good time wearing big frivolous glasses during his stage shows when he was on tour. This style exceeded the sales boom for the over the top big glasses which then made their way into joke shops all across the globe.
Another famous style of joke glasses that you see people wearing at a certain point every year is the in the New Year, the glasses feature the new year on the top of the frame with lots of added glitz. But what attracts people to joke glasses, it’s naturally not their style or how they look on you and it’s not how they may protect your eyes. It’s simply to do with trying to get a laugh out of people and not taking yourself to seriously.
Glasses, whether seriously worn to aid sight or worn as a fashion accessory or to a fancy dress party can really change peoples looks and style.

In fact for years in the 90's there was a certain fad to wear fake "Vic Reeves" style glasses, that hand normal glass in the frames, we know this because we've found one of the Sunglasses Save team's pictures from back in the day.

So whether you need them or not, joke glasses, fashion glasses and sunglasses can really make an outfit or an occasion.
