Its nearly that time of year, the annual winter holiday to those beautiful white slopes. Many of the resorts in North America have seen incredible snow in the past couple of weeks, and Europe is gearing up for a great snow filled season. With this in mind its time to turf out the jacket and salopettes, and look at your gear.
Whether you head for the slopes in winter or nearer the end of the season, its a very sensible idea to invest in a pair of goggles.
Goggles are perfect for a range of conditions. The last thing you want is to be lost in a snow storm or a white out, or on the other hand blinded by bright sun reflecting off the snow.
When picking a pair of goggles there are a few things to consider. Firstly are they double lensed? This mean there are two lenses which stop goggles from fogging up, you can test this by pressing the lenses together. Some children's goggles tend to be single lens, but for adults always make sure you choose double.
Goggles should fit comforatbly and fit both eyes into the frame without squashing or pulling your eyes, if goggles are too big, they will drop down your face and you may feel like a fly.
You'll find a range of different coloured lenses, which all provide a different focus depending on weather conditions. For sunny weather, goggles should have a mirrored finish which helps reflect the rays.
Finally you'll find goggles specifically for men, women and children, so you can choose a style and colour to fit your skiing or boarding get up. Don't be caught out at the top of a mountain when the weather closes in, make sure you invest in some decent goggles and put them in your jacket, on your helmet or in a back pack.
