We've been taking it easy this morning at the Sunglasses Save office, taking stock of orders and hundreds of emails as well as listening to some great tunes. So, inspired by the gift of music we thought we would make a list of the best songs which are based around sunglasses/shades/sunshine.

Here are the top 5 Sunglasses Songs:

1. Modstep- Sunlight hurts my eyes. If you like Dubstep, you'll love this uplifting tunes, turn it up, windows down and cruise around town.

2. TIGA- Sunglasses at Night. This retro sounding tune, hit the dance floors in 2007 but is still a massive tune, the video features Pete Burns.

3. Timbuk 3- The Futures so bright, I've gotta wear shades. A bit cheesy, but a true 80's hit.

4. ZZ Top- Cheap Sunglasses. Rock along with the all time gods of trucking and beards.

5. Don Henley and The Ataris- The Boys of Summer. Featuring the line "Wayfarers on Baby"

There are plenty more tunes that insinuate wearing shades and what a great way to get the week going, despite the lack of sun in the UK, in fact it has been distinctly wintry, nevertheless, Sunglasses will protect your vision, your eyes from UV rays and the delicate skin around the eye.

If you haven't already, consider investing in a decent pair of shades for the summer and for the winter, and for your particular sport. There are so many styles and technicalities you can own a pair of shades for every occasion.

Some of the most credible A-Listers own over 100 pairs of shades. Although that would be epic, how would you know what to choose? You would always have a favourite pair.

If you love to try on the latest trends in sunglasses, then you won’t mind investing time in trying to find the right look for you. However, if you’re pushed for time, then it’s great when the trying on process is made easy. Bloomingdales in New York has recently launched a series of interactive store windows, which lets busy shoppers try on the latest sunglasses without even entering the shop.

The Bloomingdales store windows use an interactive, 42-inch, HD touch screen, which uses virtual reality technology to show you what you’d look like in different styles. Once you’ve aligned your eyes to the onscreen grid, the designer shades are projected onto your image on the screen. You can even turn your head to see what they’re like from the sides, giving you a full impression of how the glasses suit you.

There are six different interactive windows currently on display, letting shoppers try on frames from Gucci, Fendi, Miu Miu, Prada and Roberto Cavalli. Each designer has four styles on offer per window, letting customers get an up close look at the latest styles, right there on the pavement.

Customers who are pleased with their sunglasses previews can even print out a picture of them in the frames. The technology is particularly impressive as it’s been proven to work well even with the high traffic of the New York sidewalks, the face detection technology even working with all that background activity.

If you’re already in love with a certain pair of shades or know exactly what you’re looking for, Sunglassessave.com can help. Avoid those busy high streets and indulge yourself with our huge range of designers, including those such as Gucci and Fendi which are featured in the Bloomingdales windows.

From Ray Ban to Calvin Klein, D&G to Diesel, Sunglassessave.com will have the ideal sunglasses for you, and at a better price than the high street.

We in the UK love wearing sunglasses, it may be some what of a novelty, especially due to our wonderful weather system, but nevertheless, we love wearing them, which is brilliant news, because not only do we look cool, we're protecting our eyes.

In recent news, it has been reported that less than two thirds of Americans wear sunglasses, quite a surprise when you consider the weather and activities they experience.

When we are all taught to not go out in the sun for periods of time without sunscreen, the same should apply to our eyes because we need to protect them.

The survey, taken out by N3L Optics, an American company, trying to educate people about wearing sunglasses, found that one in four Americans knew nothing about protecting your eyes and the causes sunlight could have on their peepers.

Many didn't wear sunglasses when outside relaxing, or on holiday and many didn't wear sunglasses during sports such as running or boating.

“Many people don’t wear sunglasses during their sport because they’ve had trouble in the past with clarity and fit,” said Boddy Dean, Education Director at N3L. “Advancements in sunglass technology have corrected these concerns, and there are now many sunglasses to choose from that don’t slip, fog or impair your vision when you perform.”

“Many people also have no idea there are frames and lenses out there that will enhance their outdoor experience while protecting their eyes,” Dean said.

Luckily we don't seem to have that problem here in the UK, especially with sites such as Sunglassessave.com which offer a huge range of designer and specialist sunglasses.

All of our glasses protect the eyes and offer 100% UV protection. It's not just about the eyeball, its about the whole eye area, the bigger the sunglasses the more protection they offer to the delicate skin around the eyes.

http://www.sunglassessave.com/blog/?p=646

It is a bit of a cliché when we see celebs wearing sunglasses, even in the darkest corners of a LA Club and we think, why on earth are you wearing sunglasses? Can you even see anything? We realise that celebs want to try to keep a low profile to avoid being papped at all times, but, unless their shades are super x-ray specs, how do they see in the dark.

On the other side of the coin, despite this glorious weather we're experiencing in the UK, there may be, as the poem goes, April Showers. So what better way to tackle the greyness than to put on some shades, especially when driving.

Are we mad? No, not at all, we just know the power of certain sunglasses, especially those with polarized lenses.

Basically, if there are any conditions with mega glare, (like being papped outside a boutique shop) where the sun reflects off a surface and bounces back into your eyes, basically momentarily blinding you, polarized sunglasses take out the glare and allow you to see perfectly with clear vision. They pick out the surfaces, so when driving in April showers, if it is sunny, polarized sunglasses will eliminate the glare and provide you with superb vision.

If you are out on your boat (we wish) and the glare is bouncing off the water, polarized lenses filter the light so you can see the water, into the water and concentrate on avoiding other boats or jettys.

So, we're not all mad, and neither are those people wearing sunglasses in the rain, in fact they are possibly very clever and have invested in a pair of polarized sunglasses, which make life a whole lot clearer and stop the glare in your eyes. They are the perfect all round, in many different conditions, that's why we love them and stock hundreds of different styles!

You've found your favourite sunglasses out over the weekend. Thanks to the increase in sunny weather, many of us have had a look around and fished out our reliable, comfortable fail-safe sunglasses. You might have had them for a few years, they may have been last years treat to yourself, but one of the most annoying and common ways to destroy your favourite eyewear is sitting on them. Yes, sitting on your sunglasses is one of the most common ways of ruining a decent pair of sunglasses. We also like to drop them, lose them and let them fall off our heads into lakes and rivers. It is very frustrating.

Luckily, many sunglass manufacturers have become savvy to the public accidentally ruining a great pair of shade and have produced designs with the most cutting edge materials such as nylon, which will take a certain amount of tension and actually prevent arms from snapping. Many sports glasses, as you can imagine, are made to take real strains and extremes in conditions, such as ski and snowboard sunglasses.

We must admit owning 7-year-old pair of Bolle ski sunglasses which I have sat on, thrown around the car, thrown around on a mountain and they are still perfect! All thanks to materials.

Most sensible people would put their sunglasses in a case or cloth bag, especially to prevent lenses being scratch and if they were an expensive treat, but for some of us that is way to fussy, we just want to grab them and go, stick them in the glove compartment and be able to wear them in a moments notice. Which is fine if they are simply fashion sunglasses bought on the high street, but if we've purchased a designer pair, maybe we should take a little more care of them and they will last us for years!

Sunglasses are a great fashion accessory, but they’re also essential for protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays. If you’re looking forward to shaking away the winter cobwebs by getting active, then sunglasses might be a bit of your kit you’ve not considered. With the spring sunshine well on the way, it’s worth taking note of the benefits of investing in a good pair of sunglasses – whatever your plans are this season.

Whereas sports such as football and rugby are too physical to allow wearing glasses, they’re often essential for spring and summer sports. Whether it’s cricket, golf, tennis or even water sports, a good pair of sunglasses can give you the UV protection your eyes need.

Golfers will find the spring sunshine glaring directly into their eyes during early or late rounds - sunglasses can make it easier to spot flags and balls and reduce the need to squint against the sun. The best lenses for improving contrast and picking out light colours – such as your ball - are amber, copper or brown hued glasses.

We’re all well aware of the unreliable weather at this time of year, so it might be worth investing in some changeable lens sports glasses. Darker lenses are good for brighter days, whereas yellow or clearer lenses are good for those inevitable cloudy ones.

Wraparound glasses give the best peripheral protection from UV rays, as well as improving depth perception. For sports like cricket, this can help when judging movements and calculating distances. Our range of sporty Nike sunglasses offers some great wraparound styles which won’t break the bank.

If your activities are a bit more chilled out, you’ll still appreciate protecting your eyes from the sun. Even driving in the spring sunshine can be hazardous – the lower position of the sun in the sky means you can easily be blinded in the morning and evening. Equally, if you want to indulge in some early sunbathing, wearing sunglasses (and sun cream) can give extra UV protection for your sensitive eye area.

Make sure to protect your eyes from the sun this spring – though it might not quite be summer yet, the sun’s only going to get stronger.

This week we're taking a look at how this season's trends have been inspired by sunglasses styles through the ages. From aviators to almonds, this season is all about reinventing that vintage style.

1950s and 1960s: The Browline

This classic style is a key look in menswear. It features a half rim with a metal bridge style, and was the inspiration behind Ray Ban's iconic Clubman style. This is a symbolic look from the era: made famous by Malcolm X, it is frequently seen in the stylish drama Mad Men as well as adorning the faces of Matt Damon and Kevin Costner in recent period films.

1970s: The Aviator

This look is synonymous with those mirrored Top Gun glasses, but this is a trend that really does have legs. From retro Ray Bans to sporty Carreras, these glasses add a splash of seventies to any outfit. Best of all, they can be worn by men and women alike, giving anyone the opportunity to indulge in some effortless cool.

1970s: The Oversized 'O'

Made famous by American icon Jackie Onassis, these are the essence of celebrity chic. With Chanel to Dior, there are just too many to choose from. Whether you're looking for something to shield you from the paparazzi or just to emulate that celebrity look, these are a perfect choice.

1980s: The Almond

A cross between a wayfarer and a cat's eye, these glasses hark back to the wonderful eighties: think Michelle Pfieffer in Scarface. They give a feminine and understated twist, less dramatic than the cat's eye but also more versatile. These are a great everyday staple frame, and will definitely suit any purpose.

Whatever style you're looking for this summer, the chances are you'll be echoing a whole host of stars from the big and small screens.

If you’ve got a spare $600 burning a hole in your pocket, then we’ve got just the sunglasses for you. American singer Beck, of Modern Guilt and Odelay fame, has partnered with Oliver Peoples to release his limited edition Double Helix frame, perfect for standing out in the celebrity crowd.

Frames by Beck

Nearly two years in the making and inspired by his own collection of vintage 80s glasses, Beck’s design is not for those afraid of a bit of neon. The LA native has stamped these glasses with his own brand of cool: he was closely involved in the design process, and selected the bright colour palette himself.

The design uses a vintage Italian pattern as the starting point. The dual colours create a changing pattern: from the front, the stripes in the orange appear clear, but in a side view they appear pink and yellow.

Though priced for only the deepest of pockets, these glasses give a modern twist on the classic wayfarer shape, and update a neon 80s colour palette. The grey gradient lens is a key trend for 2012, which makes these glasses all the more on trend.

Save Some Pennies

While we agree that these glasses would get many an admiring look on the streets of LA, we’ve had a look for some more affordable alternatives.

It’s just the right time to embrace a more colourful look. A splash of look-at-me colour perks up any outfit, and when worn sparingly can add a bit of spice to even the most understated ensembles. We think sunglasses are a great way to achieve this.

Staying true to the retro wayfarer shape, our fabulous range of Ray Ban sunglasses come in some striking colours, from citrus to an assortment of stripy styles. If patterns are your thing, then these icy blue frames may just be for you .

If you’re looking to reinvigorate your style for the spring sunshine, then we’ve got a huge variety of options without the celebrity price tag.
